Comharchumann Bearna Teo was established in 1976 and owns properties at
Troscai Thiar i.e. the Tennis Courts, (overlooking the O'Mally and
McEvaddy developments) and also at Clochscoilte, (approx 200 meters
west of Fr. Griffin Monument) i.e. the Sports Field and the Pitch and
Putt course. These properties are used by various subgroups under both
formal and informal arrangements.
As a legal entity, the Comharchumann acts as an employer and
organises FAS/Community Employment schemes, which benefit each of the
subgroups by way of development and maintenance work on its properties.
It has also undertaken fund raising e.g. Mayoral Campaigns and
Golf Classics, and distributed the proceeds to the various sub groups
by way of allocations for equipment purchase and/or assistance with
defrayment of certain expenditures such as insurance.
